HONOLULU (AP) — A Honolulu-area man is being held on $1 million bail on suspicion of sexually assaulting a woman at gunpoint and shooting and wounding a male acquaintance.

The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reports (https://bit.ly/264SPHV ) that Jorge Cano has been charged with sexual assault, kidnapping and weapons violations. His preliminary hearing has been set for this week.

Police say Eddie Puulei had gone to Cano’s apartment on June 3 after a 27-year-old friend told him that Cano had sexually assaulted her. Court documents say Cano and Puulei got into an argument over money when a gun in Cano’s hand went off.

Puulei was taken to a hospital in serious condition.

The alleged sexual assault wasn’t reported until the victim was questioned about the shooting.
